Alcoholic newspaperman Lew Marsh hits bottom, loses his job and his woman, Paula. He is rehabilitated by Charley Dolan, who helps him stay clean and finds him a job and housing. After six sober years, he gets his job back and devotes his spare time to other recovering alcoholics. His boss enlists his help with his nephew, Boyd Copeland, who's now married Lew's lost love, Paula. Boyd, who is having an adulterous relationship with a mob related singer, puts Lew back in the middle of trouble. When the mob catches up with Boyd and Lew, they threaten them by forcing them to take a drink.
