In 1967, Dublin, the sudden death of her husband sends Agnes and her seven children, ages 2-14, into emotional and financial crisis. She is forced to borrow money from a threatening loan shark to make ends meet when the sales at her fruits and vegetables stand can't pay the rent. Wishing to escape her existence, she dreams of attending an upcoming Tom Jones concert. With the help of her friends and children, her dreams may be realized since a French man, shunned by the locals, opens a bakery near her stand.
