Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy take in a homeless teenager named Michael "Big Mike" Oher. He has no father, and his mother is a drug addict. Assertive, affluent, and controlling wife and mother, Leigh Anne soon takes charge to ensure Michael has every opportunity to succeed. A football fan herself, when Michael expresses an interest, she's determined to have him discover how to put his bulk to use in a way that will help him. To the shock of her friends, she includes Michael in all of the family holidays and hires a tutor to help him improve his grades so he can qualify for an NCAA Division I athletic scholarship.
