Marlin, a clown fish, lives in the Great Barrier Reef with his son, Nemo. Despite his father's warnings, Nemo ventures into the open sea and is abducted by the net of a boat and sent to a dentist's office in Sydney, Australia. While Marlin tries to retrieve Nemo, he meets a fish named Dory, who has short-term memory loss. They travel a great distance, encountering various dangerous sea creatures such as sharks and jellyfish to rescue Nemo.
