Danish hairdresser Ida, who just completed breast cancer treatment and does not yet know the results, returns home before leaving for her daughter's wedding in Sorrento to find her husband, Leif, having sex with one of his employees on their sofa. She leaves for the wedding alone and in the airport parking meets the father of the bride, Philip, a narcissistic widower. She tries to make polite conversation, but he's cold and rude, a cover for the despair he feels in having to return to the place he most enjoyed with his deceased wife. The chaos grows as some uninvited guests arrive and everyone assembles for a weekend of wild partying at the villa. During the party Philip's son shows signs of confusion over getting married, guests reveal previously hidden feelings for one another, and Ida simply enjoys herself in spite of her confused children, her health, and the fall of her own marriage.
