Legendary rhythm and blues singer Ray Charles' story begins by being born with sight and raised in poverty by a single, intuitive mother. He loses his vision at seven-years-old due to an infection, and eventually leaves home for a school that taught Braille. He's finally departing from Florida as a blind young man alone on a bus bound north to support himself as a singer. The time Ray spent touring the south, before his fame, was abusive, humiliating and led to his addictions.
